About Stephen

Stephen is the Foundation Coordinator for George Jeffrey Children’s Foundation and a passionate community champion. He was born and grew up in Thunder Bay, and has spent most of his life in the Vicker’s Park neighborhood. After graduating from St. Patrick High School, he travelled to southern Germany for a 1-year Rotary Youth Exchange. Returning home, Stephen attended Lakehead University and graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History.

Stephen worked as a Communications and Administration Coordinator at the local Bombardier facility, which at the time, was Thunder Bay’s largest private sector employer. He saw first-hand how government investment into public transportation in Southern Ontario can have a positive effect on the local plant and economy. Under this current PC Government, the manufacturing facility has seen half of its staff reduced. During the mass lay-offs, Stephen was asked to be a Coordinator at the Bombardier Labour Action Centre to help support and transition laid-off employees to new careers.

Through his work at the community-level, Stephen sees first-hand how ordinary people are being left behind by this current government. Thousands of people across Thunder Bay-Atikokan are without a family doctor and our teachers and education workers are burnt-out. While the cost of living is increasing, we have a government focused on their wealthy friends and back-room deals. Thunder Bay-Atikokan needs a strong champion and with his public and private sector experience, Stephen knows how to advocate for you at Queen’s Park.

Having been politically involved from a young age, during his time at Lakehead University, Stephen began to work for MPP Michael Gravelle. In this role, he was able to meet with countless individuals and organizations and saw unprecedented investment into Thunder Bay and regional communities. During his time working for Michael, Stephen has assisted and advocated for hundreds of constituents at the provincial level.

For most of his life, Stephen has been a steadfast volunteer and community champion. He currently is the Chair of Thunder Bay’s Clean, Green & Beautiful Committee as well as the Downtown Fort William Revitalization Committee. As a long-time Fort William Rotarian, he has worked to support many organizations and charities. He has also been a long-time volunteer with Shelter House and the RFDA. Stephen is a former Director & Board President of George Jeffrey Children’s Foundation.
